Daddy's Little Girl

The first time I saw this picture I didn't think we could relate on such a deep level...the first thing that popped into my head was...

Don't tell me it's not there.

July Update

In Ottawa during the summer the National Capital Commission and Alcatel partner to close a number of the larger parkways across the city on Sunday mornings until 1:00pm in favour of non-motorized traffic...walkers, runners, rollerbladers, and (in our case of late) cyclists.

Here we are a break time near the Bank Street Bridge over the canal.

The Saturday of the Canada Day long weekend we took a little road trip to the Bonnechere Provincial Park a couple of hours west of Ottawa...nice place, even though the weather didn't so much cooperate...

That's not a blurry background...it was that crappy out, but only on the left side!

Shifting gears to why you're likely here in the first place, Katherine like to catch Milo and give him a snuggle...following Mommy's lead, of course...

Mmmmm....blueberries...

My girls hanging out in the kitchen...

A slightly older pic of Katherine wearing Uncle Colin's present from Vegas.
"Awwww, lookit those cute little skull-and-crossbones!"

Just because she's so darn cute and has a smile almost full of teeth...

Mid-June in Ottawa means that Sparks Street hosts the International Chicken and Rib Cookoff...this year we had BBQ ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, and chicken...we pick it up and take it up a block to the grass on Parliament Hill to have ourselves a little impromptu picnic. I will spare you the shots of me stuffing my face with BBQ and remain on topic with more pics of Katherine.

This one's here just because squeaky-clean babies are super-extra-cute.

OK, so you've now almost reached the end of the first post in a while and I have made you scroll through all of that other stuff so you can get to here. The video.

I'm still tweaking my MovieMaker skills, but this one is montage of clips from over the past few weeks chronicling what are among her first steps...that I could catch on the camera.

At this rate she will be off a running pretty soon!

Hope it was worth the wait!

Katherine has been having lots of fun over the past 10 days with Baba Ron who has been the babysitter and I'm sure Saturday she will miss him when he returns home.

First Steps

FYI, no pics (yet) but Katherine took her first independent steps yesterday...well 1-and-a-half steps, anyway. She has been walking with help from a stabilizing hand from mom and/or dad for a couple weeks or so, but she has increasingly been exploring how much she can accomplish on her own.

She was in the middle of the dining room (since there's no dining set) and stood up, I reached for her a called her over, she took one step, wobbled, and stumbled with her second step into my waiting hands.

Cool stuff.

I'm sure I will have some video of her walking around and checking stuff out soon.

Happy First Birthday!

Well, it's amazing how quickly 365 days can fly by. Right, Laura?

Here's a shot of Katherine playing with her cake...since she doesn't seem to be a big fan of the ultra-sweet...like I say, we still have some work to do with her!

The obligatory "first birthday" family shot.

Laura and Katherine went to a local small animal farm with the kids and Katherine really took the playground. Like the bonnet thingy?

She's tons of fun to play with and make laugh...how can you not have fun with this?

Turning into a little girl, eh?

Photographic evidence that my loving daughter woke us up at 5:30 am on Father's Day.

So I got to spend an early-morning walk with Katherine to go to the park (after swinging by the local Timmies) for some fun on the swings...another of her favourites.

We're all getting over colds that we've had over the past 10 days or so...Laura had it the worst...compounding the fact that she's now back to work and missing her baby. Our thoughts are with you, Laura!

Hard day for Mom

Well my baby is being phased in to being with her Daycare provider. Last week she spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in D's care. Everyday Ian picked her up and she came home very happy, chatting away and eager to share her day with me. I thought that by Friday she may have been looking for some "mom" time, but when she saw D at the door, it was waving bye bye to mom and big smiles for D.

Friday D took K to the farm to visit the animals. I tagged along to see her reaction to the animals. K was having a great time and had no need for her mom, wouldn't even let me hold her. At least I can go to work and know that she is happy and in great hands.

She made friends with a cow. She (the cow) gave K a kiss on the side of her head.

I think her favorite was an angora goat that was so soft and had hard pointy horns that were fun to touch.

Now summer can start...

Anaheim may have won the Cup, but Ottawa won at least a year's worth (likely many more) of serious bragging rights over the Leafs.

That will take a little of the sting out.

'NUCKS in '08!

Anyway, here's a couple of pics from Game 4...

Tailgating (kinda) inside the car since the weather sucked...

...the Red Zone out front of Scotiabank Place...Trooper on stage...

Pregame Warmup

...and pretty much downhill from there...
