Geek Test (a.k.a. Who's With Me?)

Recognize this?

How about this?

If you recognize either of these, you may be a geek.

I am a geek. Like I needed to explain that to people.

Anyway, after only 25 years or so, they're in the final stages of producing a live-action movie (with LOTS of computer-generated effects, of course) of the...

TRANSFORMERS

I think I know of two people that would see this with me: for sure my buddy Kevin in Abbotsford and quite possibly my brother in Vancouver...too bad their both about 4,500 kms away...makes the movie a little pricey...maybe Laura will go with me..we'll make it a date!

Can I bring my Transformers? Crap, they're 4,500 kms away in mom's crawlspace.

So, who's with me? Tell me I'm not alone. Please.

P.S. Go 'Nucks.

Daddy's Little Canucks fan

(Laura’s first post) On Tuesday I took Katherine to see Ian at work and I dressed her up especially for the visit. Before we went she had some lunch, and of course we HAD to match the sippy cup to the outfit. A special thanks to our friends down the street for lending us the jersey.

When Ian got home he had to put on his Canuck T-shirt for a photo op with his little girl.

Back up and running...

OK, so we're pretty much as recovered as we're going to get from the failing of our hard drive...luckily much of the important stuff (you know, the kind of stuff you check this blog for) were recovered from Ian's computer at work or other places.

Anyway, as you can see Katherine is still cute...even when imprisoned in her playpen.

She is also crawling around rather swiftly nowadays...chasing the important things in life...

She is really working on the whole walking thing as well, as you can see in another video clip over here.

Look at that face! (Insert "daddy's little girl" wisecrack here.)

I guess you gotta do something with all of that hair.

I think I better get used to this face. She had already been warned about the piece of paper in her hand and now, after finding it again, she gave me this look saying something like, "I know, but I want to play with it anyway."

As you may have already seen over on Katherine's friends' blog, she has really found her laugh, given the proper stimulus...

..the things parents will do to make their kid laugh.

It was finally time to get a little trim of her hair, since we were beginning to forget what she looks like! This shot was early on, while she was still distracted by her apron thingy.

She could only be distracted for so long, and wasn't a big friend of the stranger with a sharp metal utensil appraoching her.
Poor baby...

I will have to do some trimming/finishing since we weren't quite able to complete the job. (Hoepfully I will strike somewhat less fear with scissors.)

She's better now. Really, here's proof.

I'm not sure what I like more about this shot: 1) her feet or 2) her pensive look.

The Canucks are on in 5 minutes (in 58" of glorious HD, no less...), so that will be it for now. Go 'Nucks! (Leafs suck.)

Just to let you know we're still alive...

Hey everybody, it has been a while, but most of my computer time recently has been spent trying to recover from the failure of our hard drive...no word yet if we will get any of our data off of it before sacrificing it to the tech gods.

Please disregard the weather reports indicating the -45 degree windchill in Ottawa today...stings a little, but it's supposed to be 5 degrees on Saturday and 8 on Sunday.

Got this the other day and thought it was pretty well done, if a little long...Clark the Canadian Hockey Goalie...

Katherine (you know, the only reason you're checking this blog to begin with) is doing very well...crawling all over the place...climbing the stairs, climbing onto the couch...she really has some sort of uncanny ability to get to places too dangerous for her own good. Good thing she has us (mostly Laura, really) chasing after her 24/7.

More to come once I get a little more organized.

More pics for the masses...

Due to popular demand, more pics just because...

My old camera isn't worth anything, so it's one of Katherine's new toys. In this shot, the camera itself is behind her...she mostly likes the strap anyway...

I'm still not sure how to read this particular expression, but she seems awfully serious about something...

Having some fun bouncing around...(thanks, yet again, to a generous donation by the Barefoots)

Yup, daddy's little girl...

Mommy's lots of fun too!

As you may have already noticed, daddy may soon have to break down and allow his little girl's hair to be cut...

She's also really starting to develop a personality, at times playing with us as much as we do with her. She has a few different laughs and giggles and other stuff. For example, she can be lots of fun...

...or deadly serious.

As would be expected, she and her toys pretty much rule the basement now, unless there's a Canucks game on...

8 months sure fly by...not that this fact is lost on Laura, who I think is starting to count the days/weeks before having to return to work.

Post for no reason in particular...

Here's a shot of Katherine playing with her new friend Rudolph when we got together for some belated holiday festivities...

We were also at the Ottawa Senators game about a month ago when the Canucks were in town for their only trip out east for the next three years or so...the ended up winning their games in each of Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa, so it was a good road trip for them...plus this time the Canucks were in town they acually scored...always a plus. It was nice to have all of the Canuck fans in the stands.

This shot is of the opening faceoff at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
